The Department of Fine Arts and Academic Disciplines focuses on adhering to high professional teaching standards and provides teaching of the following academic disciplines: Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture for students of the first (Bachelor’s) level of higher education in the field of study B ‘Culture, Art and Humanities’ in the specialties:
- B4 ‘Fine Art and Restoration’,
- B3 ‘Decorative Arts and Crafts’,
- B2 ‘Design’.
The department builds the academic process based on the approved educational and professional program ‘Easel and Mural Painting’ aimed at the development of the Western Ukrainian School of Painting, which is extremely important in the education of an artist capable of promoting and defending the principles of national self-awareness and ethno-cultural self-identification.
During their studies, students get in-depth training in Drawing, Painting, and Design. They study peculiatities of easel painting, icon painting technology, and mural art techniques (mosaics, fresco painting, sgraffito, and stained glass).
The academic staff and experienced practicing artists of the department implement the program. Members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Honoured Artists of Ukraine, associate professors, and PhDs in History of Art constitute the high-quality research and pedagogical staff of the department.
The staff of the department of the institute took the lead on hosting the All-Ukrainian plein-air painting ‘Kosiv in Autumn’ and the Fine Art Competition ‘Ukraine is Our Land’.
Teachers and students of the Department of Fine Arts take part in various art exhibitions, symposia, plein air paintings, and research forums both within the country and overseas, as well as organize personal art exhibitions and publish articles in professional journals.
