The Department plays an important role in the training of educated specialists in the field of decorative and applied arts, design, and painting. The cycle of social sciences and humanities includes the study of the fundamentals of Philosophy, History of Culture and Art, Scientific Research Basics, Pedagogy, Psychology, Foreign Languages, and Ukrainian for Professional Communication. The educational process incorporates integrated teaching methods based on interdisciplinary connections and modern educational information technologies.

   The teaching staff of the department consists of the experienced scholars and teachers. The learning process is supported by well-equipped classrooms and a library. Some courses are delivered using the scientific and methodological collection of the institute’s museum, which houses over two thousand works of folk and professional decorative art from the 19th to the 21st century. During their studies, students visit both private and state museums in Kosiv, as well as workshops of folk craftsmen and professional artists.
